A day in hua hin

After having a lazy sleeping in morning we check out of our room. After  dropping off our backpacks at the the trainstaion for the day we went for lunch! One thing I have to say about the thai's is that they, usually will always smile back and are very friendly! We took a tuk tuk up to the hutsadin elephant foundation! There at the door we received a welcome gift of a shell elephant, then a guide showed us around and explained on what the plan for the foundation was. The foundation was founded four years ago by three men who had seen what became of the elephants after they were consider useless. The foundation is now the home to nine elephants and wishes to get donations and sponsors  so they can expand an grow, the ages of the elephants differs from 84 - 3 years old and with one of the females pregnant. Admition to look and walk around and meet the elephants was free ( unlike in the other more popular places) we then decided to feed some of them bannanas for 200bht! I got to feed the baby(3years old) and Manfred got to feed "granma" (84years old).
If you wanted you could go on a elephant ride bit it cost! We wanted to look around to make sure it was a sanctuary before we invested in a ride. A group of  people left for a ride when we got there. After 30 mins it started pouring so the group had to come back! We were glad we did not go at least we stayed semi dry!

It is a wonder to see the males still had there tusks!  The land the the foundation owns has alittle bit of a hill and the elephants are allowed to rom around there, in peace ( well almost,) last week ivory poachers  sedated one of the males and cut off his tusks, he was luck enough to be found by the foundation and saved. He lost a considerable amount of blood and had to have veternary care which also took money out of the foundation.
The foundation is also looking for volunteers and offer free nights to stay if booked in advanced, so if your are bored in Thailand or want to experience something amazing with animals that you don't see everyday this is the place to go! Not the elephant village where money comes first and then people then these amazing animals!  For more information visit www.hutsadin.org as you can see it left quite an impression on me and I think on Manfred as well.
We then went and hung out at a bar had a drink then went to a night market on the other side of town. Where we had dinner! I then went shopping while Manfred had a beer (great solution!)
After that we had a foot massage trying to waste time till 2am when our train leaves. Next blog will most likely be from koh Tao!  Have fun reading! Mia
P.s Manfred got his hair cut as well!!
