Denver

Hi y'all! On 8/2/12 I finally had a day off and we went to the capital of Colorado a full hour and 45 minutes away!! Which a lot of people do every day! The weather was nice when we headed over the pass and on to highway 6, which is much more interesting then the interstate 70!

Manfred had to stop to get a picture of the tunnel! At least the weather was nice an I was not driving!

We made a deal that he would drive there into the city and I would drive back!

Highway 6 stayed along a creek, while Interstate 70 cuts over the mountains, much prettier.

Here it a skyline of Denver. The building with the slanted roof is the Conventional Center. Driving in a city like this you want to find the nearest parking and fast. Unfortunately the cheapest one we found was for 9 dollars for 2 hours!!! For an entire day it cost 20$. But still nice to be in the city.

We then made our way to the shopping street!! Woohoo Shopping! 16th street mall was like Bahnhof Strasse in Zurich. Only with a lot more places to eat! We then had lunch at chillies, and got a few beers into Manfred so he could endure the shopping with me poor guy.

At least there was a sky line that he could admire.

He also went to the state capitol of Colorado while I shopped around.

The city park at sunset. This was the only place with a little bit of fresh air!! Fresh Freezing Cold Air.

But at least we could see the sunset. Which you could not in the city.

So all in all a good day in the city.

But on the way home at the last over the mountain pass that we had to take it started snowing buckets loads. My top speed was 25 miles per hour (not fast) it took over 2 hours to get home! but we made it safe and sound!! And it meant that Manfred enjoyed great powder the next morning.
Hugs Mia
